In an expected move, the USL terminated its Rochester Rhinos franchise agreement with Adirondack Sports Club LLC
one month after the City of Rochester surprisingly terminated its lease agreement with the former owner. This made us very uneasy at NACKA Kickball for obvious reasons: We weren't sure we were going to be allowed to play at the stadium any longer, and, if we were allowed to stay, how would field availability change for us?
The "waiting game" was nerve-racking to say the least. However, after multiple conversations with new Rhinos
owner David Dworkin, we could not be more excited for the future of NACKA and the future of the stadium as a whole. While the uncertainty of the situation led to the late notice and posting of Spring Season 2016 Registration
, we're ready for a great year!
Part of the lease agreement Mr. Dworkin has with the City of Rochester includes replacing the field turf at his expense. That's right kickballers, we'll be playing on brand new $600,000 turf!
We've been told to expect more upgrades to the stadium over time.
Opening night of Spring Season 2015 involved cold weather after a historically cold winter and a field full of snowbanks. Spring 2016 is expected to be much nicer according to the above average temperature forecast for April and May
by The Weather Channel. Beer, music and Kickball: We can't wait for Opening Day!
